When making a request for local history information, please provide as much information as you possibly can. 

A research fee will be assessed at a rate of $15.00/hr plus postage.Requests for copies will be assessed at $1.00 per page.

Genealogy

For those interested in researching their family’s genealogy, we make available for in-house use many resources to help in your search. 
These include Ancestry.com, books on genealogy, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, maps, documents, and numerous rare and one-of-a-kind books. 
We also have obituaries and marriages that have been documented in the Goshen Independent Republican Newspaper, starting in 1820.

Artifacts & Manuscripts

   Many artifacts and manuscripts of historic value have been acquired over the years, including:

Legal papers of Henry G. Wisner (1772-1842) and Samuel S. Seward (1768-1849); documents pertaining to the Wawayanda Patent (1785); and letters of Noah Webster (1808).  The Local History Room also contains information on the history of the Town and Village of Goshen as well as nearby areas of Orange County.

Microfilm

   A microfilm machine with printing capabilities is available for viewing microfilm from the Goshen Independent Republican Newspaper 1813 to present (with some issues missing), and the Goshen Democrat 1834-1933 (some issues missing).
